The Drowning Man
I know they'll ask me what it was like, meeting you;
And i'll tell them all the reasons why it was worth it.
I'll tell them how a blue jay sings,
How unlike its colour, it ain't blue at all.
I'll tell them of all the safety nets
You've been trying to assemble for a decent fall.
I'll tell them how night takes over a city;
A mixture of grey and black and peace.
I'll tell them how you lived in a sorrowful house
With all the doors and the locks but no keys.
I'll tell them about why branches fall off,
How they know of a bit of a branch that saves a drowning man.
I'll them of a heartbeat heard from beneath that cage of a rib;
And maybe they'll know that you've been trying the best you can.
I'll tell them about a single cloud, dark, yet light
Sheltering me not so well from the heavy rain.
I'll them about a treasure chest of a mind of yours;
And that, you had all your reasons, but you tried to stay sane.
I'll tell them how a building falls
With all its inhabitants still trapped inside.
And if they ask me if I knew your happy self,
I'll tell them about a coin with no two sides.
I'll tell them of a bruise formed, which grew
By the use of a special band aid kit.
I know they'll ask me what it was like, meeting you;
And I'd tell them all the reasons why it was worth it.

I am a young reader and writer, in search for opportunities to write my heart out and improve my writing skills. As a person who has a passion for writing, I try to decipher my jumbled thoughts by interpreting it in the form of poetry. I find it as th best way to let out built up emotions when stressed.
