I am from a yellow house with a white picket fence,

family pictures hanging around the house and Friday night family dinners.
I am from an adventurous mom and a workaholic dad,
driving my sisters to friends houses because my parents aren’t home,
making dinners and packing lunches.
I am from being a third parent to my sisters.

I am from streaming Netflix for days at a time,
blasting music in the car to hear the bass drop.
I am from going to Summerfest, Country fest and IHeart Music fest,
memorizing rap, country and pop lyrics.
I am from a music-loving family.

I am from Christmas cookies at Karen’s and Thanksgivings at Kay’s,
staying up until 3am waiting for Santa,
stuffed from Thanksgiving family dinners,
overloading on sugar from Halloween with Sydney,
going to pumpkin patches and making scarecrows in October.
I am from a holiday loving family.

I am from trying new foods and watching scary movies in the basement,
a Disney-loving family with basketball obsessed grandparents,
taking family vacations to sunny destinations,
spending Labor Day at the family cabin with all my cousins,
going cliff jumping, roadtripping, and parasailing,
taking artsy pictures of food, buildings and friends,
attending baseball games in the summer and football games in the fall.
I am from a crazy, sport loving, caring family.
