i know you hear their crimson cries
they screech
from the depths of your dark roast
froth surfacing in your mug
louder than your flat screen
news with nancy at nine
turn-that-down
it’s-horrible-what’s-happening
but to you
horrible sounds like
i-have-to-cancel
my-week-is-shot
i’m-just-so-busy
that you walk through a child’s dead mother
with no more than a shudder
shot
bombed
that test
blown so out of proportion
that debris
soars like a missile
landing on innocent backs
ironic that
that’s all they see of us
