In the hallways
Ghosts walk about
And no one knows
Where the glass tiles lead
And why the voices recite their creed
A creed woven with the hands of soldiers
And fallen angels
With the hands of an unknown savior
Hidden only by the observer’s eyes

And tonight
I wander around
Staring at mosaics of the mad
Reminders of my days
The ones I never had
Reminders that
As long as I shall live
I will be the blight
In the commoner’s eyes

These hallways
Seem to know me
From the rust of hallowed lockers
To the creak of broken desks

And under the light
Of an unintentional skylight
I stare only at jagged glass
Hidden in many a forgotten class
Oh, what days I had
And never could believe
I say goodbye
Beholding my teary eyes

I clasp my hands
Around a solemn picture stand
We were young and unafraid
The ones who could never walk away
Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock
Never one to be late
But there is an exception today

I’m out the door
Fading away
I’m forgotten
But at least I was different

I've been feeling the need for moving on lately, so I decided to write my goodbye. I don't know what I'm really saying goodbye to, but I felt I needed to write it.
