Spring Night
The moon shines with all her beauty
Coaxing you on the trail
You can smell the daffodils in bloom
This late at night, the trees in the forest become monsters with origins in your darkest childhood fantasies
The forest whispers to you in a language you can’t speak
Take anything, turn it into something, they said
So you walk alone, and turn the foreshadowing into hard swallowed breaths
The flowers dance in the steady breeze as the shadows creep through to get a good look at you
Emptiness is a state of mind
Though you can’t help but feel a shiver up your spine
Snap
Jumping out of your skin, you turn around and see
A twig snapping? Bone snapping?
Nothing.
Walking through the woods at night in Spring
