The Tenth One
I have met 9 people,
One for each year of my life .
The first one had hair the color of a blazing sun,
and the eyes of the suffering.
The second one held a lie in it's hands,
and seemed not to know it's value.
The third one had everything.
And still expected pay.
The fourth one was everything,
But death took that one away .
The fifth one didn't come at all,
And how that wasted my day.
The sixth one has a broken heart,
And it sins us everyday.
The seventh one nearly killed me,
A shame no one saw that one again.
The last two I must not speak of,
For that is not my job.
But today is my 10th year of life,
And not tomorrow at all.
Now I must come to a conclusion,
Though it surely pains me so.
For my first 7 mistakes,
the
eighth
one
will
pay.
