Dreams
It’s been there
since you were little.
You just couldn’t see it.
It’s still there
even right now
just waiting for you to notice.
Somedays it tries to run in front of you
and yell “I’m here!”
but you forbid it from doing so
in fear that recognition will make it grow,
grow into a big shadow
that consumes you in whole
so that you won’t be able to see anything else
than the light coming from it.
You fear it will blind you to stop you
from springing back to your world of consciousness
and instead forever live in the its world.
So you ignore it for the majority of your life
but you know it’s always there
behind you,
just waiting for you to realise
and to let it in
through the door
leading to your mind.
It knows that it will be a hard one,
as your doors,
made of steel and glass,
lets outsiders see inside those doors
giving them small glimpses of hope
but doesn’t let them in.
And yet,
unlike those others
who give up without trying,
it will wait and wait
for days and days,
hoping that one day
the door will unlock quietly,
and let it in,
so that it can become reality.
