Reassurance
Her face is illuminated
like the moon in the sky.
I plant myself down in the sand
as I watch her having fun.
She shoots like a missile
through the dark blue water
as she swims farther away.
Then she turns around,
kicking and pushing forward
back safely to me.
I run to the edge of the water
and scoop her up,
like a ladle scooping soup
into my arms
safe,
once again.
