Cape Cod Morning Poem
I watch closely out the window
as the storm rolls away
the dark sky becomes blue
and the harsh winds become light breezes
I see a field of uncut grass
the color of yellow sand
a house as white as fresh fallen snow
shutters as black as the night sky
all the vibrant colors outside
don’t match how I feel on the inside
the sky's too bright
the warm breeze is too calming
why do I have to feel this way;
sad, dark, gloomy

This poem is inspired by the painting Cape Cod Morning by Edward Hopper. This is through the perspective of the woman in the window.
