Lost Friends
Two years ago
we were inseparable
our connection so strong
that we were not friends
so much as sisters
bond by the time we spent together
the secrets we shared
and all the memories we made.
Two months ago
we were talking about our future
those perfect little houses
with their white picket fences
sat directly across from one another
where your children will laugh
and play with mine.
Two weeks ago
you promised you
could never be mad at me
that you would be here for me
through it all
but your fingers were crossed behind your back
and your mouth weaving a web of lies
with every word you said.
Two days ago
you tore me to pieces
I was too complicated you said
you couldn’t handle being friends with someone who walked a fine line between life and death so instead you pushed me off the edge and with my last breath you simply breathed a sigh of relief.
