Rage, rage against the dying of the light. ~Dylan Thomas

We The People of the United States

Give up our rights with all due haste.

Companies buy and sell our lives

Stock market crashes it all goes downhill,

Capitalist economy capitalizes on profit

And exploits the lives of the ones who work the fields

We neglect the unseen the cogs in the great machine

Those who fall don't work on Wall Street

The fluctuations of supply and demand

Demand the supply of more, more, more,

As we consume, the furnace at the center

Of the great beast we call America burns,

Our great nation of customers,

Fingers greasy with the oil of poor countries

Exploited for the natural resources buried deep under the skin of the earth,

We drill deep with dumbly designed destroyers of divinity,

Driving our ravenous claws far into our Mother Earth

Never a thought to the animals,

Our next of kin,

Those precious souls who's homes we destroy on the daily

Those souls who are torn from the earth like potatoes pulled from life into a factory,

Don't deny the harsh reality,

No heaven for the cow from your last hamburger.

America is a machine,

Gas-guzzling oil monster, greasy-fingered, opened-mouthed

The nation of consumers,

We don't ever see the cogs though our eyes clouded

By the idealist pictures painted by politicians paid out of the pockets

Of the people of the United States of America.

We The People of The United States

Need something more than America the Great.
