I am a pale ghost,
Born of the night and of the shadows.
My wings are the leaves of a tree,
My eyes and name the nectar of the moon;
I am an apparition raised from the dead
And returned from the spirit world.
My hollow, haunting song hides in my heart
For my sealed mouth has never uttered a note,
And the green wispy mist of my existence
Ever forebears the swiftly-approaching day
When I will truly be cast into the darkness
From which I was born in feathery dust.
