You’re actually happy.

You fear you might blink and miss something.
You start feeling queasy, with lofty expectations.
You question, “What could possibly go wrong?”
You are on the verge of greatness, on a topsy-turvy roller coaster--
an up along with a down.
A bumpy ride, though, isn’t so bad if you end up where you wanted to be all along.

Then it gets to you.

The stability didn’t bring you satisfaction.
Unbridled joy quickly replaced by a throbbing headache,
expectations crushed.
You crash from contention and wrenched emotions.
It’s like a fall, face-first into a canyon, only leaving you with damage.
Was it good enough to get excited about
or bad enough to ignore?
Now, answer a simple question: Was it worth it?
