Roses and Carnations
She is the Rose
I am the Carnation
She carries sharp thorns
I have soft leaves
She is a closed bloom who no one seeks to feed
I am the opened bud who is lovingly cared for
She hides her golden center to shun her personality
I share my pollen freely to make friends with the bees
She always praises the moon
I always praise the sun
Blood drips on her petals
My petals get pulled
Her petals are clean
My petals are dirty and ripped
Her thorns stay sharp
My leaves shrivel up
She represents love
I represent death
Winter comes and takes us away
Our beauty turned to ashes
Our pride to shame
Even so, our rivalry will start again next spring

Sometimes it's fun to compete with others until someone points out your and your friend(s) flaws. It becomes more than just a simple game. It become of matter of who's better than who. Flowers compete for beauty just as humans compete for personality.
