Snowflakes
A boy who I saw once
Set my mind into a flurry
Drifting thoughts,
Cold, or not
Beautiful and individual as snowflakes
They fall upon my life and leave a small mark
I fall in love with his smile, his laugh
The very way he moves
I suddenly wish my life were a book
That way I’d be able to capture the way his eyes sparkle
And read it over and over again
I’d be able to skip ahead to what parts I like best
I’d also be able to stop, place a bookmark and never look back
When things turned bitter
When I could no longer remember the way we fit together
I’d be able to leave my decisions and steps for someone else to decide
Be unburdened by life’s little problems
I’d be able to ask
What if?
What could be?
Had my life not been set in the ink on the page
Black and white
Even though I wish I was fictional
I’d think I’d prefer to be real
At least
I wouldn’t have to read through the plot twists or cliffhangers
Or one day, be forgotten
Or compared to someone else
I’d be able to experience the rush myself
Feel my senses buzzing with the thrill of first love
And although my life would move on one day
I’d always be able to look out the window
And glance at the snowflakes
And think
What if?
What could be?
