Favorite Quote:
Don't feel dumb. Feel Renewed. Quoted by yours truly-me

I drift away to the tender melody you speak,

I am secure when your gentle embrace surrounds me,

I feel the warmth, and vlvetiness of your hands,

You know exactly who I am.

Your cooking is outstanding, I consume every bite,

The only thing I don't eat is the burnt bacon,

My favorite is your cheesy potatoes, it is always delicious,

I love to make different kinds of fudge with you at Christmas.

You are a magnificent work of art, really smart, and a whole lot of beautiful,

You are so amazing because you know where a lot of things are,

Thank you for the person that you are, and accepting me as I was truly yours,

Well I kind of am because you are the only mother that I have ever known.

We have different color skin, and different color eyes and hair,

But that doesn't matter to me, what does is that you actually cared,

I may not catch on to things fast, but you always explain,

I get scared a lot, but you are always there to love me for who I am.

Thanks Mom that means a lot, I love you very much,

Most of all thank you for teaching me about God,

Thank you for making me smile when I am sad,

Thank you for loving that wonderful man who I call dad.

The author's comments:

I am adopted, I was adopted when I was three. I came to my adoptive family when I was eleven months old, so they are all I have ever known. I am biracial and my adoptive parent are white.

I wrote this poem for and about my mom, the only one that I have ever known.
