Hey stranger

The guy I thought I knew, was you

And still is

Who knows what happened to separate us like this

My mind knows who you are, but my heart cannot perceive

This strange disconnection is impossible to believe

And yet it's true

Hey stranger

I watch you from afar, benches away

And yeah, I know your name

Get this feeling you know mine too

How strange

Rainbows and b-ball and banks, oh my

I know your favorite things to do and you know mine

Extremely extraordinary

And yet we do

Hey stranger

I'm not supposed to talk to you

'Don't talk to strangers' is still a rule

But the more you become a stranger

The stranger I become

You know everything about me

And yet we're still strangers

How can that be?

We've resorted to handshakes and polite hellos

No more conversations or distraught calls

It's the poignant truth

How two so close could move so far apart

Puzzles me

And yet we have

Hey stranger

Who are you?

You could be inquiring the same of me

Who knows?

Who knows why I'm missing this stranger so much

And yet I am

Who knows why this separation makes me feel so sad

And yet it does

Hey stranger

What's crackalackin?

Shouldn't we see where our kinship is lacking?

I'm writing this poem specifically for you

So you can see what you wanna do

Hey stranger

I don't wanna be a stranger anymore

Can we catch up sometime?
