Ruins
This cold, empty silence
will ruin my peace.
The clock ticks against me,
Bloody swords for its hands.
“Will you ever smile?”
“I suspect maybe someday.”
But danger is a fighting chance
and my soul is too safe.
“Do you wish to escape?”
“Only everyday.”
We’re all growing older
and even more cold.
Like ash on the ground
after the fire burns out.
“Were you promised a diamond?”
“No, only ten thousand stones.”
“Do you think in a whisper?”
“No, in ruins.”
