Let people tell you what to do
And tell you what’s right and wrong
Let them push you around
Let them control you
Let them influence you
Let the words they say
Dominate every corner of your brain
Let them bring you down
Let it cloud your mind
And believe it

Let your thoughts restrain you
Let yourself consider the thought
Of Failure
Let yourself presume
That your best is not even close to good enough
Let yourself succumb to the pressure
Let yourself feel the weight of the world
Let yourself judge every part of your body
Let it overcome you
And believe it

Let the world intimidate you
Let yourself dare to back down
Let yourself buckle with fear
And think the worst of every situation
Let the world daunt you
Let it hold you back
And let it stop you
Let your dreams fade away
Let yourself realize it wouldn’t happen anyway
And believe it all

I’ve learned that this kind of allowance
Only leads to suffering
This kind of misery
Can deplete any energy potential
To a mere dusting flame
This kind of vulnerability
Can demolish the smallest of ambitions
So it is your choice
Whether you do
Or Don’t

There was a lot of feeling. I loved it. God I can relate. I hate being pushed around, but I always get mad and say nothing. You helped me speak. Seems crazy because one of my poems is sort of like that.
