All We Can Do
I sat and pondered upon a tree
About how beautiful God made thee
Something more beautiful than anyone could see
more perfect than mankind could be.
As I got lost in my own thoughts
Time passed by and nothing stopped
The war kept going and death did too
Nothing could stop it not even you.
I now lay down here with nothing to do
Thinking of all the reasons why life’s so blue.
I sat and listened under that big old tree
When in my mind again passed thee.
And then I realised I had been blind
There’s no peace or anything of that kind.
The earth was the one chance we had to life
So we butcher it slowly with a knife.
As all the bits and pieces start to fall
We say: No, it’s not broken, not at all.
We claim to fix it and take care
As we watch it go down in a flare.
Destroy and Fight those words we knew
After all
It’s all we do.
