what matters?

Things come screaming through my mind,
I hear shouts,
And whispers,
And I see death,
And life,
Intertwined,
I see horrid acts,
And beautiful sacrifice,
I see stories,
And pictures,
I see mankind,
And his innocent violence,
I smell spilled blood of the sacrificial victim,
But also the sweet incense of the ritual,
I feel,
Dread,
I feel world,
Tipping,
Drowning,
In our waste,
I see us,
Falling,
Dying,
But does it,
Even matter,
Once we’re gone?
