Moonpies
Moonpies
Catch it, cradle it
gorge yourself on soft light
indulge the churlish sheet
between splayed fingers…dozing
quiet now
its catching –infectious like disease
over thin hills of marble palms
wrestle stray moonlight to the ground
once still between smooth hands it snarls
a lion pinned against wet grass
extract the moonlight behind bared teeth
a c rack ed bolt of it—
shoot it into the Tin
bent light, simmering in a ring of foil,
so cold it congeals the soul
knead it to crust
barricade its heart
deter the gaping mouth
