Dinner
Cowering in fear is what you do best
Be bold i say, be you
You'll just laugh and shut me out
Eventually dinner will resume: hidden undertones of hatred and angst, served with slices of meat
Between bites and chews we play the game of children- the pretend game
You were always the best player; making sure nothing ever hurt
You'd always cut the cake with your distant glares-
you never wanted to be here
But that doesn't matter, we're playing the game, it's what you do best
Pretty soon we'd be done and you'll smile and ask "Are you done?"
I'll always reply with a cheerful "yeah", and we'd depart from the table,
into our different dens,
Clearly drawing our batttlelines
What a fun dinner
