Thirteen Ways of looking at Him
I.
Among so many others,
he is the only person
your heart decided to choose.
II.
The way he looks away,
As you stare back at him.
In which you’re unsure.
III.
The Smile that plays across his
face.
In the small way of amusement.
IV.
A look and a kiss.
Withholding much meaning.
A look, a kiss, and a blush.
The evolving into love.
V.
I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of his strength
Or the beauty of his heart,
The silence pleasant
Or the aftermath.
VI.
Dreams fill the long nights
With pleasing memories.
The thoughts of tomorrow’s tidings
Crossing sleep, restless and calming.
The realization
Brought into the light
An all-consuming emotion.
VII.
O curse’d art thou love,
Why do you have control?
Do you not see how wreck less thou art
Prancing around thy heart
Of the susceptible around you?
VIII.
I know noble intentions
And vivid, inescapable feelings;
But I know, too,
That the heart is involved
In what I long for.
IX.
When the realization hit me,
It blinded me fantastically
It was him, my heart’s desire.
X.
At the first wish of hope
Whispering in a secret time,
Even the trains of night
Would whistle out lustfully
XI.
She studied him clearly
In a reasonable manner.
Once, a smile punctuated his face,
In that she mistook
The feelings of her friend
For kindness.
XII.
The music is playing.
He must be dancing.
XIII.
It was shaking of wonderful feelings.
It was chimerical
And it was forbidden to me.
His charm hidden
In falling for his love.

This is an imitational piece inspired by "Thirteen Ways of looking at a Blackbird" for my AP Senior Lit class. This assignment is yet to be graded seeing as how it is still in the drawing for extra credit or not, enjoy!
