Isolation
Surrounded by the smooth, cool expanse,
I am isolated from the world.
On one shore,
I can see lights.
But the shore is so far away.
Back the way I came,
Is a single path of footprints in the snow
And total darkness.
I could go to the shore with lights,
To be with other people,
But instead I return the way I came,
Crunching through the snow.
Into the darkness,
Of the silent winter night.

This poem is about being alone and being okay with that.
