Mermaid's Dilema
Why can I not summon you
When I need you most
The powerless ones leave me
The pawns of smiles
Worthless, meaningless
And yet in a red cell do you lay
There at the bars, where locked you stay
I give you permission to leave and be free
To rid me of this chronic disease
So you mock me and dance, singing loud in my ears
But to those I must give you
Can only see not hear.
