Better to die doing what you love, than to live doing nothing at all.

I doesn’t seem to matter-
This race to reach perfection.
But everyday some survive, some fall
to society’s natural selection.

We don’t always seem to realize
That in order to live within the norm
and to fit in with the other kids
We must stand, salute, conform.

If our status is to survive
We must always be aware.
Adapt and evolve to humanity’s ways.
Change our face and our clothes and our hair.

They say that we don’t have the right features
And cast us away, abandoned and shunned.
Then we change ourselves to be more like them
so they’ll take us back, happy and stunned.

Sometimes we don’t make the right changes.
We fall prey to society’s rage.
No matter how hard we beat our social-clipped wings
We can’t escape this social-built cage.

But what if we fought human nature,
and stayed just the way that we are?
See that we’re already pretty inside and out
and let self-worth heal our insecure scars.

The majority may not like it
and fight back with cold actions and words.
But we must stand firm and remember,
We are not one of Darwin’s birds.
