Like Snowflakes
sometimes i think
we are all just snowflakes
tumbling,
falling through a vast abyss of
crystal sky…
we brush
against
each other
and we each fall,
slowly,
singing through the air,
adrift in
the cinnamon
sweetness
of winter’s chill rush,
the dream of a child
looking into a snowglobe,
laughing,
thinking,
we are all
the same, deep inside,
just ice, diamonds drifting
in the same direction,
carried aloft,
wondering what fate holds,
whether we will soar
turquoise,
vertiginous,
or melt
in the white heat
of parched, rice paper suns…
we are dreaming,
awakening,
so close,
so far apart,
and melting slowly,
even as
we dance
we are melting away.
