The Burden
I dreamt of you all last night
And I ain't saying it's all right
If only you knew the way I feel
The beating of my heart seals the deal
I love your mouth, your ears, your smile,
They welcome me to stay a while
Your voice, your lips, the top of your head
No wonder you haunt the sheets of my bed
To kiss you isn't all I want
Although your lips look nice and soft
To hold you in my arms instead
To face the days and hours of dread
If only I didn't shy away
But love is not my game to play
If only you knew the words of my soul
For now they seem an impossible toll
