Stained Glass
It’s hard to take off the skin,
The skin she wears so well,
The skin she wears every single day,
Every single hour,
No hope,
Her face caked with stained glass,
Her scares hidden from real light,
Her eyes that take, that perfect faith,
And throw it all away,
So beautiful, so golden,
It is to not be real,
No untouched thread,
No sleepy head,
Beware one cursed curl,
That leaps for freedom faith in all,
Yet no hope left, that’s all,
It’s easy to laugh,
It’s easy to forget,
Well, it’s easy to try to forget,
It’s so easy to lose,
It’s so hard to choose,
To forget who you are,
For that new pair of shoes,
It’s hard to take off the skin,
The skin she wears so well,
But once she takes it off,
She’s stuck alone,
With
Herself
