"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head)."
-Sylvia Plath

We
are like African termites,
Macrotermes bellicosus,
ever reaching,
building structures
that stretch
to the highest points at the top of the sky.
There we blow our kisses to the gods.
We are millions upon millions
of micro-individuals
immersing ourselves
in clusters,
crowds,
companies,
corporations –
clusters,
crowds,
colonies,
swarms.
We are all one mind in the many, many, many
one.

We
are like African termites,
Macrotermes bellicosus,
nymphs workers soldiers queens
reproduction
re-production
re production.
We
are like African termites.

Macrotermes bellicosus,
constantly working
harder, harder, harder,
HARDER.
Until we drop,
eating the dead
eating the dead leaves
eating the dead leaves that fall from heaven
eating the dead leaves that fall from the tops of our own towers
eating
the
dead.

We
are like African termites
and there is no room in our world
for the ones who fall.
