Time
in slow succession
it succeeds

in moving our lives
in ever changing patterns

turning our world inside out

in every quiet tick
and returning it to precarious balance
in the next

for some it's a call to duty
the thing that sets them free
for others a way out
to some a burden

maybe these shy little ticks
as the seconds of my life pass
show me something special
and when their lesson is over
they will stop just for me

The author's comments:
i wrote this peice in my engish class, i was thinking about how little time we actually have. what that simple fact means to people. at the end of my poem my last thought was, what if our time here on earth is all the time we need to learn. and once our lesson is over, we leave earth.
