My Alphabet

you did not make me whole
nor did you decode my jigsaw mind
but you did make my cloud of smoke
fade into a hazy memory
and held my hands to teach me
how to grow thicker skin
you gave me sunrises and sunsets
and traced the outline of my body
to prove that i was still breathing
i was never half of anything
but the beat of my heart
now begins and ends with you.
