"This world is but a canvas to our imagination."
-Henry David Thoreau

You think you’re the boss of me,
Well, that just can’t be,
I run my own life,
And you’re not my queen.

I make my own choices,
And project my own voice,
You can’t control me,
It’s just not that easy…

I know I laugh way too loud,
Don’t blend in the crowd,
But you can’t shroud my craziness,
Craziness…

So what if I’m unpredictable,
It’s part of my charm,
At least I’m not like you,
Causing everyone harm:

No thank you- thank you,
I’ll just choose my own way…
You’re just a distraction,
You better not stay.

When you say go left,
I’d rather go right,
I’ll choose my own path,
And lead my own life.

Don’t bother trying to stop me,
You’ll fall crumbling down,
And now it’s your turn,
To hail my almighty crown…..

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem from my heart. I'm normally shy about all poems I write, but this one seemed different to me.I wrote this as a way to help me open up to sharing my writing publicly- something I've been scared of doing since my pencil first met paper. When i finished this piece it made me feel free- something I hope passes on from me to anyone reading this poem.
