Missed Opportunity
I could have stamped away the silence,
could have whispered your name.
But my voice was trapped by envy
that forced my words away.
Could have lit the candle and
revealed the concealed words,
but a river of tears washed them
down to oblivion.
Why was the hole so deep?
Why did we slip right in it?
Traps of ignorant suavity raid our
minds with foolishness,
and yet we go down deeper?
Did you know me?
I was once that type of girl,
showered with the possessions
that you stole in my name.
Yet I could have gotten back
all of those worthless provisions
and more,
and gained a new friend of
silver and gold among a sea
of vermin.
And yet, I chose the vermin,
and the deal is all said and done.
The curtain of hatred has closed,
And you have gone down with it.
