If Only
He looks at her with wonders in his eyes,
he admires her grace from afar,
and even when she leaves,
he says his good-byes,
if only she could see.
He tucks her in at night,
with a kiss on the forehead,
and adds a “goodnight my love,”
as she snuggles in her bed,
if only she could feel him.
He watches over her mother,
missing her with every day that goes by,
making sure that she is taking care of
his little sweetie-pie,
if only he had more time.
He wishes he could let her know,
that when he left,
it wasn't for good,
it never was for good,
for he will always be with her,
tucking her in at night,
and watching as she grows older,
if only she could know,
there was never a final good-bye.
