The Reality of A Teenaged Dream
I lay alone eyes open wide
Before long the emptiness consumes me
Covering me like a lush warm fleece
The darkness only a muse to my misery
The blood of my sins flow down my cheeks
The firm grip of my contrition clenches my neck
I close my eyes and pull the covers over my head
Memories come flooding back like crashing waves
The highlight of my sixteenth summer
A blue-eyed teenage dream in black
Crooked smiles, tight embraces and long nights
Sun bright enough to blind from empty promises
Flash forward to last kisses
September chills foretelling a frigid winter
When clean breaks aren't an option
Only one of us ever felt the pain
I wonder if the day will ever come
My last waking thought will be of another
The dreams aren't haunted with the ghost of you
When my heart is released of neglected love
