The Crowd
Most people in high school
want to fit into the crowd,
but our goal is to get out of it,
while changing it
and ourselves in the process.
In the end, it didn’t matter
if I ate this morning.
It would’ve been
the smallest meal today.
So I went to the flagpole and prayed
with the other students.
We lifted up our hearts
and opened the hearts of others,
just by standing out from the crowd.
