"We're neither pure; nor wise; nor good; we do the best we know."
-Voltaire

She doesn't belong here
She belongs in a different world
An alternate universe
Hidden between the stars.

The night blinds her
To the other people in her world
That stay lurking in the shadows
Cowering in the darkness of their minds.

It is a disease, this universe
And the people who venture here
Have stardust in their veins
And black holes in their hearts.

Teenagers are quite lost people, if you think about it. We are supposed to act like adults, yet we are treated like children. This is a poem about the lostness that teenagers endure, the depression, and the confusion. This is based off of personal experiences of feeling like I don't belong, that I was stuck in the darkness between the bright lights of childhood and adulthood.
