It hurts all the time.
But I just tell myself,
Smile smile smile.
Say you’re fine.
Don’t let it show in your eyes.
Hold it back.
Smile smile smile.
Say you’re fine.
Lie lie lie.
You’re fine.
But then the sleepless nights come,
My thoughts overwhelm me.
There’s no need to pretend here,
Cry cry cry.
There’s no need to lie.
But wait, Shh.
Quiet quiet quiet.
Mom might hear,
Wet pillows,
That’s all it is,
They’ll be dry in the morning.
So.
Smile smile smile.
You’re fine.
