Broken
Broken:
People can’t see it,
so they don’t know the truth.
They fall for the lines,
the paper perfume.
You wear it
all too well.
You are a spotlight,
and everyone knows.
You shine.
But even a spotlight
can’t see the shadow
that it casts.
The cracks,
may be small,
but they’re becoming
more definite
as all your hopes
turn into fears.
But I can see past
that artificial smile
that always plasters your face.
I know that those
tears of joy
aren’t joyful at all
and that your bright eyes
hide all of the pain.
You are creating a wall
to block out your fears,
but as it builds up
you break down.
You’ve thrown out your heart
and you can’t get it back.
You are broken
so let me
fix you.
