"I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best."
-Marilyn Monroe

Beautiful blue eyes
Like waves in the ocean

Long blonde hair
Like golden drops from the sun

Pretty pink lips
Like a rose carved just for him

He likes her
I know he does

Pretty, pretty her
And ugly, ugly me

With my wavy brown hair
Like mud on the street

My hazel eyes
Like chocolate gone wrong

Red-brown freckles
And pink-red pimples

Have you ever thought
Of me?

Their eyes lock
Their lips meet

I can’t watch
I won’t watch

I cover my eyes
But peek through my fingers

They’re in love
I know

But it hurts me
It kills me inside

Just one question
Bounces through my mind

Have you ever thought
Of me?

I know the answer
I know it well

Of course not
Because I’m, well, me

The author's comments:
This poem is fictional. It's about feeling discouraged with yourself. It's really important to always love and believe in yourself. The person narrating this poem is having trouble doing this. I hope you'll enjoy it.

*Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning how to dance in the rain.*

I love this!!! It's so sad, but you can actually feel what she's feeling.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope no one feels like brown hair and hazel eyes are bad. I wrote this as a realistic fiction. But thanks for reading it. I'm glad you all enjoyed it!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."
Marianne Williamson

hey cat with glasses! :) This is lovely poem yet it is kind of sad. I can totally relate. I felt the same way once. However, I am a firm believer that everyone is beautiful in their own way- and sometimes those who are unique are even more beautiful. ;)

It is better to write for yourself and have no audience than write for your audience and have no self.
