I know your face
I know where you came from
Your age, profession
I know all the memories
We share
The good and the bad times
I know everything about you

There were times
Where I could hear you
Through the doors
You kept locked
What kept holding you down
What made the gap between us
Stretch to great lengths

Now as I sit
Watching you lay there
There is one thing on my mind,
Why can’t I reach out to you?
I can’t even thank you
Or even hold a conversation with you
Like I used to

You’re someone I love dearly
Inside I’m crying and yearning to tell you
That I know you
You keep saying you’re a different person
But you’re not you’re the same person
I met five years ago

Don’t leave I used to say
As you closed the door on your way out
You headed your way
Leaving me behind
Shielding me from past
Protecting me like a defenseless child

Now as I sit and watch
Unable to move an inch
So scared I could
Lose you any second
You were fine just hours ago
Now you can barely move

It kills me to see you like this
I can’t speak what I want or do anything
For you
Inside I’m screaming, crying, and kicking
I want out of this
I want to turn the clock back
To when you were next to me
Smiling so brightly

To the time you could speak
And move freely
Not now where you can barely utter a word
Without it hurting you
I don’t want you to go through
This pain
I wish you could see that deep inside
I love you and know you
And I always will,
I will always know you.

When I wrote this I was going through a tough time. Someone I loved very much was in the hospital on the verge of death. I didn't know what to do so I wrote and continue to write. When I wrote I felt free and calm. It help me go through the tough time.
