my day today
today I was at the beach, and I thought of you
the waves crashed against the warm sand, two opposites coming together.
just
like
us?
the sun's loving rays bring color to my dry skin
in the way that you bring color to my pale and lifeless body when you say that
you love me
and the chilly, salty breeze that runs through my stringy hair
is like the way that your laugh runs through my mind
every time I'm without you.
today I was at the park,
and i thought of you.
the way that toddlers kicking their stubby legs inspires a rusty old swing set to keep pumping
when it so badly desires to give out
is similar to the way that holding
your hand against mine inspires me to work
through my despair and hardships
even though I'm rusty
and the way that the wood chips would stick to my socks
Is the same as when infatuation clings to me with
you by my side.
today I went to a bookstore and
I thought of you
the books have been read and re read but their power to please their reader never fails
in the way that
I've fallen for many other boys but
you made it seem like my heart started the beat for the very first time
the second you blew me a kiss from across the room.
and the pages of each book are ripped down the corner
sorta like me
but you tape us both together and keep us from falling apart yet again
I've done a lot of things today,
but my favorite thing of all
was when the sun kissed the mountain tops across the street from my house
because it made me think of you.
the sky changed its clothes from light blue and party cloudy
to a beautiful orange and purple dress
and that sunset was also like you
because Its looks left me captivated and taking its picture could do no justice because
nothing can quite capture your appeal.
tonight the stars will glitter through the dark sky
and your eyes will glitter through my dark mind
and you are everywhere and
nowhere at the same time
and so far away from me yet
I can still reach for you out my window
And maybe one day I will explore the galaxy
where meeting the moon will remind me of you.
but for now I will stay on earth
in hopes of being held close to you.
