smile through everything no matter how bad it gets because it could be worse and if it gets worse well then it can only get better. :)

Dear Boys who wear the shirt that says
“Cool Story Babe. Now go make me a Sandwich”
Have you no respect for me?
A woman?
Are you implying that I should have no voice?
That the only sound I should make is the gentle
Scraping of mayo on to a slice of white bread
With 3 slices of ham one slice of turkey
Just the way you like it?
Am I only capable of remembering recipes?
In your eyes
Is the world too big and bad for me to understand?
So you instead try to shelter me into the kitchen
My rightful place, right?
Well Boys,
I have some news for you.
Either gender could have been the superior one
It just so happens that it was you for the longest time
Women could have just as easily led the world on
You could have been our muscles, and we could have
Been the brains
You try to confine us into one room, because you know all too well
That if we were given the chance, we could run this world
I saw a boy wearing this shirt about half way through the day
And I cannot help but question,
The legitimacy of our school
They say that they have so many rules for us to abide by
And one part of the school dress code is that shirts cannot promote
Any negative aspects of life, things like drugs and alcohol,
Yet they allowed him to promote sexist ideals
No teacher told him to remove the shirt,
They all just allowed for him to carry himself around proud
What kind of example does that set?
What message does that send?
Women are openly being discriminated against, and no authoritative figure
Even attempted to put an end to it
What kind of mother allows for her son?
To walk out of the house with a shirt like that on?
Slapping every girl he sees in the hall, right across the face
The message that shirt sends just gives the boys at school permission
To make jokes and put us women down
I remember in global class when a boy asked if we all wanted to hear a joke
And then his punch line was “Women’s Rights”
I was punched in the face then and slapped in the face now
And no teacher was protecting me
Or who I am
I feel like I have been wronged,
I have been targeted
And no teacher even cares
Parents don’t care,
No body cares.
Am I the only person left in the world that has self-respect?
Or am I just some stupid woman who should stop thinking,
Stop talking,
And just go make the “man” a damn sandwich?

I am just tired of all of the disrespect girls earn at school, but can't overlook that a majority of them are just setting us up for this discrimination, due to their lack of self-respect. February 17th, 2013

I agree with LoonyLoopyLupin, amen to this poem! The idea of Woman's Rights is so much looked down upon that no one even takes into consideration that we could one day be the superior sex. Everyone is so used to sexism just being a part of every day life, who cares if men are constantly mentally throwing punches at us with their sexist statements? It's okay because they're men. I disagree with sexism and I'm extremely glad I read this poem and know that someones views the world as I do. Bravo to you @tori-gurl! This was a magnificent piece of work!

Personally, I just thought of it as a slogan but you are right! of course you are! You must never stop thinking as your thoughts define you and allow your individualitly. A brilliant perspective, well done!!
