Listen

Listen, the faintest breeze is singing your name
The day is happy, bright and welcoming
Children dance - twirling in the glistening sky
Holding the sunshine in their soft hands

Listen, the path is whispering your name from far away
It is covered in splinters of darkness
Hidden behind the leaves of the past and the mud of an uncertain future
Let not fear turn the stranger away
Come then, barefoot so your toes may touch the cool earth
Come now, so the morning mist awakens your eyelids
Come until you shed the loneliness amongst the Germaniums and Blue Jays

Listen to the time, the silent seconds
The melody in the music, the soothing sobs of the forest
Let them envelop you - absorb you

Listen, just listen and the breeze will shake off your sorrow
Carrying it to the another Weeping Willow

Do you ever wonder what would happen if you let go of your troubles and immersed yourself in something foreign? Why can't we take a little break once in a while. This poem speaks to the times when we feel hopeless - maybe we all have something to learn from the serenity that exists in untouched nature. After all, we never know what will inspire us to make a change, or pursue something that is supposedly off-limits. Often times, we go through our days consumed by work, study and our tight schedules. Deep thoughts don't get a chance to cross our minds. So let go a bit - go for a light jog, a bike ride, a walk, a swim; surround yourself with the unknown and get to know yourself. Embrace it, love it.
