Imagine
Imagine screams and laughter mixed together.
Imagine bark, yap, yip.
Imagine, “Excuse me, can you tell me how to get to…”
Imagine doors slamming, voices raised.
Imagine sniffle, sob, whimper.
Imagine, “Why do Mommy and Daddy fight?”
Imagine squeals and snorts.
Imagine crash, kiss, giggle.
Imagine, “It’s just a skinned knee, sweetheart.”
Imagine forced smiles and tears on cheeks.
Imagine weep, gasp, wail.
Imagine, “He’s in a better place.”
Imagine these little moments
And imagine a young girl hunched over her laptop
She writes her words and remembers
She remembers it all.
