Not So Hidden

You look sad when you think no one is watching
but so do the best of us
you think if no one sees then
no one knows
but that's not quite true
not really
You look sad when you think no one is watching
but I am, I can see
the sorrow you try to hide
etched deep into your features
so obvious to me
how can the others no notice
as you wipe your eyes
but even when you hold your head high
I see the tremors in your hands
as they tighten into fists
You look sad when you think no one is watching
and yes, though people often say it
there's no tragedy in that
