Where I'm From
I am from the old swing in the backyard, from Pine Scent and Mr.Clean.
I am from the big oak trees shading the warm grass.
I am from the tulips that spring up in the dirt.
I am from chocolate rice crispie treats and bright blue eyes,
from Mary and both Jeffrey and Hansen descendants.
I am from the sitting around the table, and long sunset walks around town.
From being a princess and a precious little flower,
I am from the belief of God, expressing it as I please.
I am from across the sea, and fish and chips, from traveling the world,
experiencing it, and told through old eyes, from the smiles from journeys before,
and from the tellings of many stories from long ago.
I am from the picture frames on the wall,
explaining the youth and growth of all,
those will forever be cherished,
the pictures of it all.
