“Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people of the world, I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside, inside them they've all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands maybe.”
----Neil Gaiman

Watching rain on the windshield
Seeing your hand on the wheel
Too close to two beating hearts
When neither are beating whole.

Reading every gesture and pause
Pondering the secrets of the lost.
Too late to see what we had missed
At the corner of sorrow’s street.

Lingering on meaningless notions
Deciphering the mingled emotions.
Too hard to see past the watery mist
That shrouds the ancient road.

Toeing the line when we don’t know how
Figuring out only the here and now.
Too young, I think, to know the truth
About forever.
